The PlayStation 5 has been out for some time now, and its reception has been mostly positive. It includes lots of quality-of-life improvements over its predecessor, the PlayStation 4, such as faster load times, a solid-state drive (SSD) instead of a regular hard disk drive (HDD), and an improved controller in the form of the new DualSense. However, a console is only as good as the games available on it, and thankfully, the PS5 has you covered on that front as well.
While the machine already has a worthy library of great PS5 games, there are even more to look forward to, with some releasing as soon as this month, while others are still years away. In the video game world, it’s not uncommon to be aware of games that are still several years out from release. It’s also normal for a new game to be revealed and launched within just a couple of months. In this comprehensive list, we’ll go through the major PS5 releases scheduled for 2023 and speculate on future games.
These are the best upcoming PS5 games to look forward to.

Atlas Fallen’s story is still a bit of a mystery, but when we demoed the upcoming title in March we immediately got Forspoken vibes — in a good way. The open-world action RPG puts players into the lowest caste in this world’s society who was bonded with an ancient gauntlet. That gauntlet has an amnesic spirit named Nyaal living inside it and is now trying to save the world from gods that have left it in desert-filled ruins. It’s more melee-focused compared to Forspoken‘s all-magic combat system, but it operates in a similar vein.
Prepare to embark on a bone-chilling journey in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, a third-person asymmetrical horror experience that puts you in the shoes of either the infamous Slaughter family or their hapless victims. Choose the role of a victim and rely on your wits and stealth to evade the clutches of the sadistic Slaughter Family. With every step, you must strategize, searching for essential tools that may hold the key to your ultimate escape. We still don’t have a set release date for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 but Sony has continued to note a Fall 2023 period for launch. The plot of the game is still a little murky, but we know that Peter Parker and Miles Morales will be fighting side-by-side against villains Venom and Kraven the Hunter.
These games are confirmed to be coming to Ps5 at some point soon. We aren’t entirely sure when, or if, they’ll drop this year, but we have hope.
Skull and Bones has been delayed for a sixth (and hopefully final) time — it has now been given the vague release date of “early 2023 to 2024.” The final version of Skull and Bones is a mix of Ubisoft’s open-world titles, survival games, and a more detailed version of the Assassin’s Creed series’ naval combat. Are players still interested after the title has seen so many delays? And will it stack up against the success of Sea of Thieves? Only time will tell.
As we get deeper into 2023, we’re going to start getting confirmed release dates and rumors for next year. Here’s everything that’s on our radar for 2024.
All we know about the games listed below is that they’re in development. Most of them are probably a few years away from launch.
Kicking off the 2021 PlayStation Showcase was the announcement of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake. It’s still very early in development and will likely be a while before it’s ready to launch. The original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic launched for Xbox in 2003 and was developed by BioWare, the team behind Mass Effect and Dragon Age. The remake is being handled by Aspyr, the studio that developed remasters of Star Wars: Episode I — Racer, Star Wars: Jedi Knight — Jedi Academy, and Star Wars: Republic Commando. Interestingly, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake will be a PS5 timed console exclusive, though it’s unclear for how long. In 2022, it was reportedly delayed indefinitely, so we likely won’t get to play this game any time soon.
