How to unlock the Invader in Remnant 2

Archetypes are what Remnant 2 designates their classes. Unlike the first game which had only three to pick from, the sequel has 10 total classes to pick and change between, however, the majority of them are not available when you begin. You will need to first pick one of the starting four Archetypes before going out into the world to unlock the rest. Some are easier to unlock than others, with the Invader being one that has stumped many players. If you want to try out one of the most unique classes in Remnant 2, here's how you can unlock it.

What You Need

  • Get the Dreamcatcher

How to unlock the Invader

Unlike most other Archetypes you can unlock, the Invader first requires you to get a very specific weapon.

Step 1: First, we need to get the Dreamcatcher weapon by heading to Losomn and into the Marrow Parish.

Step 2: Navigate this zone until you find the gate to the large estate and find your way inside.

Step 3: Collect the three Stone-Carved Dolls, and the Prison Cell Key while you're at it, inside and give them to the Head Doctor locked in a cell in the basement. Use the key to set her free.

Step 4: Pick up the Nightweaver Stone Doll.

Step 5: Continue through the zone until you reach the Tormented Asylum.

Step 6: Locate the cell full of a glowing mass of webs.

Step 7: Use the Nightweaver Stone Doll on the web to get the Dreamcatcher.

Step 8: Now that you have the necessary weapon, load up into the Corrupted Harbor in Root Earth.

Step 9: Continue to the crashed ship and use the Dreamcatcher to destroy the pod creature producing the fog to clear it from the area and get a Walker's Dream item.

Step 10: Use the Walker's Dream item to teleport yourself to the Twilight Vale.

Step 11: Fight and defeat the boss named Bane and pick up the Wooden Shiv it drops.

Step 12: Return to Ward 13 and give the Wooden Shiv to Wallace to craft the Serrated Root Blade that unlocks the Invader Archetype.

How to unlock skills
We briefly touched on it, but the short version of teaching Oatchi new skills is by spending Pup Drive with Shephard. The option will become available to you after you rescue a Castaway named Russ from a cave and return back to the Rescue Command Post. The main way to earn Pup Drive is to rescue Castaways and Leaflings, with each one awarding you a single Pup Drive, as well as doing Dandori Battles and Challenges. You can also gain a Pup Drive during night expeditions by curing Leaflings with glow sap.

The set of skills you first see is not all that Oatchi is capable of learning. More will become available naturally as you play, such as learning to swim by going in water, or maxing out other skills.

The more that shooters embrace RPG elements, the worse their boss fights tend to get. Instead of featuring unforgettable encounters that test players' skills and recontextualize game elements in exciting ways, many bosses in games like Outriders feel like bullet sponges that any player can beat as long as they have a good enough weapon. I haven’t experienced a truly fantastic, memorable boss fight in a shooter for some time, so Remnant II shocked me when it provided three in just a couple of hours of play.

Gunfire Games’ Soulslike shooter sequel to 2019 sleeper hit Remnant: From the Ashes builds upon the formula that its predecessor established, so fans of the first game will find a lot to enjoy here. At first, I had trouble getting into what felt like a mediocre third-person shooter with some stark, colorful levels. But after a couple of astonishing boss fights, I’m starting to come around on Remnant II.
Better Bosses
For those that haven’t played Remnant II, players essentially fight through a string of dungeons set across multiversal realms. Big bad bosses that play around with the third-person shooter’s mechanics are often lurking at the end of each area. At the start of my Remnant II campaign, I ventured through a realm called Yaesha and met my first memorable boss in a place called The Twisted Chantry.

When the PlayStation 5 launched, we got a standalone expansion of sorts in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which let us play as the new spider on the block in his own story. Now the focus has been set on the proper, full sequel, which looks to take everything from the original game and the expansion and combine it all into a truly amazing new Spider-Man (Spider-Men?) title. We've only had a handful of looks at the game, but we've used our spider senses to untangle all the information there is about Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
